Course summary

Examine domestic and international political systems and processes and achieve fluency in your chosen language. You can study Politics at Leeds in combination with one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Thai.You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the institutions and practices of modern political systems, the theories that underpin them, and the ways in which they shape, and are shaped by, society and achieve fluency in your chosen language. You’ll deepen your awareness of the important political challenges faced by governments today. Your year abroad will further enhance your linguistic language skills and expand your understanding of the political and social structures of your host country.Your final year project will enable you to demonstrate your combined understanding of both elements of your undergraduate degree, enabling you to explore in greater depth such issues as political reforms and transitions, social movements, human rights, with specific reference to your chosen language and country.
