Modern Languages BA (Hons)

Learning a language is both fascinating and challenging. Languages break down barriers, allowing us to connect globally and share experiences. In an evermore complex world language skills are more relevant than ever.On our BA in Modern Languages, you’ll study two modern foreign languages to degree level. There are two pathways:**Two post-A level/IB languages**Choose from:- French- German- Russian- Spanish (including the study of Portuguese for at least one year)**One post-A level/IB language and one beginners’ language**You can be a complete beginner or have a GCSE. Choose from:- French- German- Portuguese (cannot be combined with Russian)- Russian- Serbian/Croatian (only available in combinations with Russian)- Spanish.You can reach the same level in your beginners’ language as in your A-level language by final year.Your degree certificate will not specify the level at which you entered the University; for instance, if you study French and German (beginners), your degree on graduation will be French and German.The exciting experience of the year abroad develops your communication skills, builds your confidence and helps you stand out to future employers.**Applying through UCAS**Please specify in your UCAS application which language combinations you would like to study.This course is also available with a Foundation Year.
