Part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, our research programme in history covers a wide variety of research areas embracing economic, political and social history. Particular specialisms include: Social change and urban change in 20th-century Britain; film and propaganda; women and professional work in late 19th- and 20th-century Britain and Canada; the Suez Crisis; maritime and business history; French economic history. Additional research interest is in: American influences on British cities; modern Irish history; history of the University of Westminster; European taxation systems; religious history; European integration and European political history.
