Course summary

Research Culture

Theology and Religious Studies at Chester is a lively and exciting department to pursue your research. By embarking on an MPhil, PhD, or Professional Doctorate in Practical Theology, you will be joining a vibrant and thriving research culture, where academic staff and 100 postgraduate students work together in a supportive, stimulating and thriving environment. As a research community, staff and students regularly meet to hear about each other’s projects. As part of our department seminar series, staff and students give papers, and we invite scholars at the forefront of their field of study to present their work. In addition, as part of the Faculty of Humanities, TRS students can discuss their work with students and meet colleagues working in other disciplines. This range of events exposes you to the breadth of subjects in our field and enables you to engage with cutting edge research in TRS.

Postgraduate Training

We provide you with excellent, professional training. We do this through workshops and seminars on undertaking research. Our students are also involved in teaching, planning, and organising research events, present their work at significant international conferences, and have also disseminated their work in peer-reviewed journals and edited publications.
