Course summary

The MPhil is a master’s level research qualification providing advanced research skills and knowledge. It can be part of a PhD or you can study for a standalone qualification.Like a PhD, you’ll conduct extensive research in your chosen field which might include critically evaluating a body of knowledge. It is however completed over a shorter period than a PhD and doesn’t require the same level of original contribution.The emphasis is on independent research resulting in a thesis and you’ll undertake an oral examination (Viva Voce).Following completion you'll be in a great position to move onto further research or you could progress your career with your new found knowledge and skills.Duration and mode: full-time 1-2 years, part-time 3-4 years
