Course summary
MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Community and Primary Care Practitioner)
Are you a registered health or social care professional looking to develop your advanced practitioner knowledge and skills within community and primary care? This specialist pathway has been designed to prepare and support nurses, midwives and allied health professionals working in a community environment for the service delivery changes taking place in this area. You will be equipped to meet these changes and to thrive in the new service configurations as well as learning to work in new ways.
Key features
- Developed in response to the policy context of integrated care (Five Year Forward View, 2014), this pathway promotes partnership working, the management of complexity and the need to address health inequalities.
- Critically examine new service delivery models as they are developed and enhance your clinical skills to meet the integrated workforce agenda including holistic assessment, problem solving and single assessment processes.
- Deliver health promotion to a range of people and contribute to reducing health inequalities.
- Gain the necessary generic practice skills to function within the community/primary care environment and to analyse integrated practice whilst critically examining the nature, purposes and practice of public health.
- Flexibly respond to the transformation of services and working across professional and organisational boundaries.
- Opportunities to study in an inter-professional setting with inter-professional core and optional modules delivered by an academic team with extensive experience as well as a close relationship with clinicians contributing to teaching.
- Research informed teaching is embedded throughout the curriculum and you will be given the chance to design and undertake your own research to enhance and develop patient care and/or service provision.
- Embed independent and supplementary prescribing into your masters degree (subject to profession).
- Be equipped to take on lead roles in management, clinical practice and/or education
- Part time programme offering flexible delivery and exit points to support a learner centred approach.
- Please note that when you enrol on this programme, you always enrol to study the master degree but we offer three exit awards: PgCert, PgDip and MSc.
