Course summary
This research programme offers the opportunity to develop your expertise in a particular area of computer science and to consolidate your skills in preparation for positions in research development or technology management. The flexible nature of this Master’s gives students the chance to undertake research in an area that is of interest to them or relevant to their current employment. Examples of recent projects by students include hybrid information systems management, machine vision system development for automatic identification of food blemishes, and using bio-inspired neural networks to prevent collisions between cars and pedestrians. Examples of research areas include robotics and autonomous systems, computer vision and image or video analysis, medical image analysis, social computing, games and serious games applications, and data science. Engaging with the School’s research groups enables students to access expertise in areas including vision engineering, autonomous systems, social computing, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence. Supported by an experienced supervisory team, students may have opportunities to publish their work in academic journals and present their findings at conferences.
