We offer a stimulating and challenging course where you can build on your existing learning experiences to advance your academic and professional development. You will gain specialised knowledge and a critical awareness of issues in Environmental psychology, health and wellbeing.

This course allows you to work in a flexible way, studying online at a time and place that suits you. We will invite you to attend residentials in Ambleside, however, these are optional. You will be able to keep in touch with staff and other students online.

Course summary

If you want to pursue a career in Environmental psychology or health and wellbeing, our innovative MSc course will be a great first step to enable you to do so. We’ve earned a great reputation nationally for our cutting edge research methods and we will teach you to use differing and specialist methods, equipping you for future challenges and advancing your career prospects.

This course is distance learning, although you can opt to take some modules on our Fusehill campus in Carlisle. At three points during the year you will be invited to attend optional week-long residentials at our Ambleside campus (Outdoor Spaces Health and Wellbeing; Environmental Psychology; and a dissertation planning week).

Graduate prospects

This course is designed for psychology graduates who wish to pursue a career in Environmental psychology, health and wellbeing; the skills and knowledge you learn can be applied in a range of professional settings, or you may wish to further your learning with a PhD. On this course you will gain skills in research design and planning, and disseminating research (e.g. conferences, publishing in journals), academic writing and critical thinking.

You will have flexibility in your choice of topic for dissertation and negotiated learning modules; this will allow you to select subject areas which suit your own specific career goals.
