Course summary

This course combines a computing core with computer vision and data science and machine learning specialisms to offer students the theoretical and practical experience needed to develop the innovative solutions required in a dynamic and innovative technology sector. Students also have the opportunity to undertake a substantial research project focusing on an area of particular personal and professional interest, through the development of a dissertation and substantive software implementation. The School of Computer Science holds a broad range of expertise in Computing Technologies and Information Systems, including specialisms in robotics and autonomous systems, computer vision and image engineering, medical applications of technology, social computing, games computing, cultural computing and business computing. Features: Students in the School of Computer Science are taught by academics with specialist experience in areas including computer vision and medical imaging, autonomous systems and robotics, and cloud computing. Research within the School has been internationally recognised, such as a research project into medical imaging by Distinguished Professor of Image Engineering, Nigel Allinson MBE, who was recently awarded a £1.6 million grant from the Wellcome Trust.
