Course summary

This MSc in International Human Resource Management is suitable for those with an interest in global employment issues. The globalisation of business means that the management of people has become an international activity. It cannot be assumed that what is effective in one country can be automatically transferred to another country, even when it is within the same organisation.

This course will explore the wider factors and contexts affecting people management such as the social, political and ethical context of business in a globalised world. As part of your studies, you will analyse the impact of different national and institutional contexts on firm structures, innovation processes and work organisation.

Assessment

Students will be assessed via coursework only. Coursework assessments are varied and will include case studies, live projects, presentations and written assignments.

On completing this course example of careers you are likely to progress into one or more of the following areas:

  • A generalist role in the field of human resource management, in an aspiring global organization or already
  • operating within the global arena:
  • Specialist HR roles within human resource management;
  • Senior positions (after a qualifying period, or possibly sooner for existing careers within HR) within the human resource management and development function;
  • Possibly consultancy positions concerned with the management and development of employees.
