Course summary

Overview

The full-time MSc International Human Resources Management course is taught in a truly international context in two world capital cities and offers a collaborative programme awarding master's degrees from LSBU and Carlos III University, Madrid or the Institut de Gestion Sociale (IGS), Paris.

The course is designed for graduates of any discipline who intend to develop a career in global business in the area of human resource management, or in any area of management which places a high priority on the exercise of people management skills.

Building upon the expertise and opportunities available at all the institutions, the programme focuses on the management of human resources in international companies and the issues associated with the management of international staff, and includes the opportunity of an internship. Members of the programme are supported and encouraged to develop research skills in a business environment through the production of an internship-based masters dissertation, which represents the culmination of the programme.

Upon completion you'll be awarded two Masters degrees: MSc in International Human Resources Management (UK) and a degree from either IGS Paris, Carlos III University, depending on your route of study.

Teaching and learning

As a postgraduate student in the Business School, your personal development and wellbeing is very important to us, so we have developed a personal tutoring system that is tailored to your individual and group needs.

Firstly, you will be allocated a personal tutor who will be available to you on a 1:1 basis as well as facilitating group personal tutoring sessions, designed to enhance your academic and personal development within your postgraduate degree programme.

In addition to an allocated personal tutor, there will also be a personal tutor available ‘on call’ in a designated room, called ‘Talk’, for confidential 1:1 pastoral care meetings every day of the academic semester from 9am to 8pm. This personal tutor can be seen by appointment or within a few minutes in order to assist you with any concerns that you may have.

Employability

The course gives a good grounding in international HR issues, theories and practice, and several units are based on the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) professional standards. Successful students can enter a variety of HR roles, particularly in the international market. The internship gives a real boost to career opportunities for graduates on this programme.
