Course summary
This new postgraduate programme is intended to analyse and explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence in the production and acquisition of broadcast media. It will consider how the fabric, functionality and influence of AI systems in distributed media, contribution and transmission across media networks and mobile infrastructures is changing the direction and model of media infrastructures.
At our MediaCityUK campus, you will investigate the implications, integration conceptual and functional design of architectures to enable AI development and implementation.
This MSc programme is aimed at extending broadcast engineers’ experience and understanding of the ability and capabilities of Artificial intelligence in the creation and distribution of media in society.
You will:
- examine the ways in which Internet Protocols (IP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) work in the media industry.
- learn the mechanisms and techniques of dealing with the new extended fabric of modern infrastructure for broadcast media delivery
- study at our campus at MediaCityUK - one of the country's leading digital hubs
CAREER LINKS:
The programme team have links with companies including Newtek, Blackmagic design, Red Bee, NEP , Dock 10, DB Broadcast, Televideo, and Techex.
A number of these companies either contribute through feeding data and information to the programme team or by providing masterclasses and talks to the student group.
Employers have been canvased by the programme team to confirm the need for more senior grade engineers and operators with more extended knowledge of IP and the implications of AI. It is clear that this is a current growing area of industry and commercial activity, and our industry links ensure that our graduates are well prepared to enter this world with a clear understanding of cutting-edge technologies and their applications.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The ideal candidate for this programme is someone who is either in an engineering role, or has graduated with an understanding of the significance of IP and AI in the shaping of systems, companies and media. You would therefore relish the opportunity to gain more specialist insights into the new applications of such technologies.
