Our Mental Health Nursing Master's offers you a varied and fascinating glimpse into the many options available.Lessons on-campus take place in simulated wards in addition to lecture theatres and are taught by a first-class team of highly skilled, expert lecturers. For your clinical placements, you will have an exceptional opportunity to train with the internationally renowned South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, Oxleas NHS Trust or KMPT NHS Trust. You will experience the work of specialist services in areas such as addiction, eating disorders, personality disorders and psychological therapies. Work alongside highly skilled and experienced mental health nurses at the cutting-edge of patient care delivery.Placements:Our nursing and midwifery courses are run in partnership with several NHS Trusts, who work with us because of our reputation for teaching excellence. You will also be assigned a practice assessor who will complete the formal assessment of your practice learning. You will spend 50% of your time each year in these valuable work placements. Here you will learn the vital importance of communication and team work with other staff members.We work in partnership with the following NHS Trusts:London Boroughs1. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Including community care services for Mental Health, Learning Disability Adult, Children and Women's services.Students may be placed in Greenwich, Lewisham, Deptford, Bexley and Bromley.2. South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation TrustStudents may be placed in Camberwell, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.Kent1. Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership TrustStudents may be placed in Dartford, Gillingham, Maidstone and Medway.If you choose to study a Nursing or Midwifery programme, at your interview you will be asked to nominate the NHS trust you would like to be based in. Wherever possible, we try to meet your wishes. You will undertake most of your placement in this trust, but you may work in others if a placement is not available in your selected trust.It is important when choosing your trust to remember that you may be required to work shifts that include hours outside the normal working day. You will need to consider your transport options and ensure that your placement is within travelling distance.You may be able to claim reimbursement of travel costs incurred whilst attending your placement.
