Programme Overview

Our MSc in Water and Environmental Management gives you the technical skills to manage pollution, alongside a detailed understanding of the urban aquatic environment. Emphasis is on the practical application of water and environmental management within industry. We aim to prepare you for a management career in the water and environmental sectors.

When you graduate, you’ll be equipped to embrace the challenges around water problems caused by expanding urban areas worldwide.

You’ll deepen your research skills and techniques by completing a dissertation on a topic you want to explore further, supported by our academic staff.

You’ll graduate with all the professional skills you need to develop and manage successful water and environmental projects from the very start.

The programme can be studied full time for one year or over two years part-time.

Learning and Assessment

The taught course will be assessed using a combination of written coursework, presentations, examinations and portfolios, and a written dissertation. Formal examinations, class tests and reports will also feature where relevant.

You’ll be exposed to a variety of teaching, learning and assessment practices throughout your MSc programme. This includes lectures, seminars, written/oral presentations and project work.

Field trips and industrial visits are used to develop student appreciation of the practical application of research methods and data analysis.

On Graduating from the Programme, You Will:

• Know how to address environmental directives and other statutory regulations.
• Have a deep knowledge of relevant issues such as urban waste management.
• Have acquired management expertise so you can operate in senior leadership positions.
• Have developed your communication skills for planning, executing, reporting and presenting to stakeholders at all levels.
• Have gained a complex interdisciplinary skillset needed for a successful career in this field.
