Course summary

The International Foundation Year (IFY) is designed for students whose first language is not English. The IFY will prepare you for both your English language level for entry and also for content knowledge you will need to begin the BA/BSc course. Once you have successfully completed the IFY, you are guaranteed a place onto the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree course at the University.Learn to be a journalist – the best job in the world, according to Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. You’ll embark on a challenging, exciting and engaging three-year journey from news novice to a multi-skilled, multi-platform, social media-savvy, 21st Century journalist. Experienced professionals will teach you how to generate journalism across TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and online. From day one we regard you as a student journalist, constantly seeking out your latest exclusive – fizzing with engaging multimedia content – to add to your ever-growing online portfolio. We have three student media outlets for you to populate - an award-winning online newspaper, a student radio station and a student TV channel. Our course is fully accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC).
