Course summary

This exciting degree course is designed for those who want to specialise in composition, production and orchestration of music for Film and Television. Students will develop modern skills in all areas of music production and composition and will be equipped with a depth of understanding, making successful graduates an employable asset in areas of modern media practice such as film, computer games, television, music technology, radio, advertising and animation. There is also careful consideration to equip sound specialists with an ability to think critically about modern sound production. The course is delivered by dBs Music, who provide a practical and creative-based degree course located in professionally specified high-end studio facilities. The course is validated by Plymouth Marjon University.There is an emphasis here on contemporary sound practices, examining the modes of sound production within the moving image context, whilst always referring to classic production techniques that still stand the test of time. This is all whilst examining the current revenue streams within the sound related industries and working with students to, where possible, begin their professional vocational careers whilst studying on this program. This course aims to involve students in real world projects working for real world clients. The aim is to form a working and professional relationship with students studying on media and film courses and to collaborate with these students in the creation of professional products. All dBs Music centres are based on the principles of providing the very best, boasting fully equipped studios, huge live rooms, Foley studios, Surround Sound suites and lecture theatre/screening rooms. Whether it’s classic mixing desks, such as the API 1608, Neve Genesys or SSL Duality, or the very latest software plug-ins and the mountain of hardware, students are guaranteed to get hands on practical experience on the very best industry standard gear.
