Course summary

OVERVIEW

The Sonic Arts Research Cluster supports advanced research in historical and critical musicology, acoustic and electronic composition, music technology, and performance studies. It also supports interdisciplinary research, particularly in eighteenth century (Centre of Eighteenth Century Studies) or modern topics.

Student composers work in a vigorous and diverse community across a broad range of creative practice from acoustic composition through to creative work in sonic arts. Instrumental composition students are afforded significant opportunities for workshop contact with visiting international artists, and with the Ulster Orchestra.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS: There is significant flexibility regarding start dates for postgraduate research programmes, subject to prior agreement with primary supervisor. Candidates should contact Admissions should they wish to revise their PhD programme start date.
