Course summary
This course offers you a combination of a focus on developing your practical skills in vocal performance, a range of dance performance styles or the acting skills of a musical theatre practitioner with an opportunity to position yourself with a very strong personal philosophy of fundraising. This means the ability to analyze the organization seeking support - which may one day be your own performing company - and an understanding of the wide range of funding sources available. You'll develop a broader knowledge of the third sector and its history, and an understanding of musical theatre and how this contributes to and reflects culture. Arts Development students will also develop their own dedicated charity performance project.
Students will have the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills to enhance employability in a range of areas beyond University. Course progression in the department has been very high, with a number of students going on to further study at master's level in some of the most prestigious conservatoires in the country and in PGCE teacher training.
