Course summary

The FdA Musical Theatre programme is perfect for those who wish to perform, teach, and work in Musical Theatre. The course is mainly vocational and you will receive equal amounts of dance, acting and singing technique. This is to link with the current market and industry standards.
The top London drama schools are currently targeting “triple threat” students to keep in sync with the productions that are currently on tour and in the West End. We hope to offer something different to these top schools but also work in partnership and deliver the three disciplines to the highest standards. The programme also delivers academic studies such Contextual Studies, in these modules you will be able to use your theoretical knowledge to grasp the historical context of Musical Theatre. You will keep a portfolio monitoring your first year’s training and at the end of the year present your findings.

These modules will enable you to develop your presentation, essay writing, communication and research skills. You will participate in lectures and seminars to promote your knowledge of the industry. All theory sessions will link to the vocational modules and always remain interactive. The work-based sessions will be performance based and develop your skills on stage, working with choreography, scripts and lyrics. Performance classes throughout the year will help build these skills and help you understand what area you suit for auditions. You will also be taught a range of audition techniques to help you in your future career paths. The FdA Musical Theatre programme caters for those who wish to perform, teach and work in the industry. The vocational nature of this programme ensures you receive equal amounts of dance, acting and singing techniques that mirrors current industry trends. Combining intensive, practical performance training with relevant academic and creative study, this course is suited to those who are highly driven in all three areas of Performing Arts. Sessions are technical and performance based and designed to develop the skills required for a career on stage. Performance classes throughout the year help build your audition technique and solo repertoire.
