Course summary
This MSci gives you the opportunity to study abroad making it a five-year degree. You will spend your third year studying at one of our partner institutions overseas. You could spend time studying in Europe or in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia or USA. An international year has many employability benefits that will help you in your career. You will develop key skills such as communication, confidence, language and independence. All of these are extremely sought after by employers.Throughout the integrated masters you will study natural sciences at a more advanced level. In the fifth year, you will spend half of the year working on an in-depth research project in an area of your choice. Supported by teaching staff, the project provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate your learning from earlier years.The project topic can be within your chosen scientific subject or more interdisciplinary combining elements of all the subjects you've studied. It will help you to develop the skills needed especially if you are considering a career in research and development. You will also take taught modules, allowing you to explore some topics in more depth.We offer nine subject areas:- Archaeology- Biology- Cancer Sciences- Chemistry- Ecosystems and Environment- Earth Science- Mathematics- Physics- PsychologyYou'll choose from one of twenty-two streams combining three of the subjects during your first year. You'll study two subjects to degree level from your second year. By combining multiple sciences, you will benefit from a truly interdisciplinary degree. The flexibility to study different subjects, enables you to tailor the MSci to your interests. You can continue to study familiar subjects alongside some you may not have studied before.Teaching will include a combination of lectures, tutorials, problem classes and seminars. Gain hands-on experience conducting experiments in our modern laboratories and computing facilities. You'll graduate with transferable skills that employers look for. These include critical thinking, problem solving, team work and communication.
