From gaining insight into how the brain controls our body to neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and new therapy development, our Neuroscience BSc will provide you with the skillset required to enter a variety of careers and contribute to the advancement of global health.
Why choose this course?- Accredited by the Royal Society of Biology- Top 20 in the UK for Neuroscience (Guardian University League Table, 2022)- Gain practical experience of human neural anatomy in Keele Medical School's Anatomy Suite- Develop core practical skills in Keele's state-of-the-art Central Science Laboratories (CSL)- Enhance your employability with an industrial placement or year studying abroadOur Neuroscience BSc aims to equip you with the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge used by Neuroscientists (typically research scientists) in their quest to design and carry out experiments to understand more about the brain and nervous system. You will explore a mixture of core modules that will provide you with a grounding in basic biological techniques, an introduction to the core concepts of neuroscience and the practical skills required for a career within the field.During your first and second year, you will take laboratory classes most weeks to develop practical, analytical, observational and interpretative skills.Your final year will include both core and optional modules plus the opportunity to unleash your creativity in your final year research project.Core modules will explore what can go wrong in terms of brain injury and disease, the pathology behind this and the most recent research to explore how we can repair the brain following trauma.
