Course summary

Why Study this Programme?

Suitable for nurses from all areas of practice, the MSc Nursing programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, personal, professional and inter-professional insights needed to confront, challenge and shape the future of your practice.

Continuing changes in health and social care policy and practice have affected the way in which nursing is practised. One of the greatest challenges facing nursing today is to build on the essence of nursing as a caring profession whilst incorporating new technologies, ideas and approaches to healthcare.

This postgraduate Nursing course offers you the opportunity to stand back and take an in-depth and considered review of nursing in order to face the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Learning Environment and Assessment

Modules are assessed using a variety of methods: essays, presentations, storyboard, seminars, reflective practice work and journal club reviews. Some modules are assessed by a combination of assessment methodologies. All the chosen methods will enable you to demonstrate your ability to analyse and reflect upon current issues within the practice of nursing.

Opportunities

Students who have successfully completed this course have developed their careers in management, specialist roles, research and academic institutions, in the UK and internationally.

Following successful completion of this course, you may wish to pursue further study in the form of PhD or Professional Doctorate. If you are interested in either of these, please discuss this with your course leader or one of the Research Degree Tutors in the School of Health.
