OverviewThis Top-Up degree offers students the opportunity to study a wide range of topics relevant to current and relevant healthcare agendas and policies, as well as allowing students the freedom to integrate those which are relevant to student’s clinical practice. Students will explore, critically debate, and incorporate theoretical and practical issues within the context of their own area/speciality of clinical practice. This will be enhanced through multi-speciality discussions with staff and students from different clinical arenas. Students will develop these skills throughout each module, culminating in the submission of an assessment that allows you to demonstrate the development of these skills. The programme is not approved by the NMC and does not lead to registration with the NMC. It is an academic top up for level 1 NMC Registered nurses or Internationally Educated Nurses, who have a licence to practice in their country of qualification as a Qualified Nurse. Please note there is a separate process for overseas nurses to obtain registration from the NMC. Course structureThis course can be studied full-time over one year. We use various methods of teaching including lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, independent learning and group work. You’ll be learning modules in a simulation facility. This includes an immersive simulation suite which also includes mock wards, and a mock house for community simulations. There are also several different simulation mannequins that are available for teaching use.
