Course Overview
Our two-year PGDip in Nursing allows graduates with an honours degree to take the next steps towards a rewarding career in nursing. As a graduate you already have many transferrable skills needed to succeed, including ability to organise, work within a team and manage your time.
What will this course cover?
Working with patients can be challenging and complex. We help you develop the necessary personal and professional qualities of a good nurse. As well as learning about policy and procedure, you will develop important attributes such as empathy and compassion. Additionally you'll learn how to cope with challenging situations and will leave the course feeling confident in a clinical setting.
Nurses require excellent communication. As part of the practical element of the course you will work with other health professionals to manage patients and attend to their specific needs. The mix of contact hours and work placements means when you finish the course you'll have all the necessary skills to deliver a high standard of care.

Employability
What are my career prospects
Although typically most registered nurses will work within hospitals there are other opportunities such as working within prisons or the mental health service. Within nursing there are many opportunities in related clinical, educational and management roles. As you gain experience as a nurse you will be offered opportunities to progress to positions of responsibility and leadership.
After completing your Postgraduate Diploma you will be eligible to register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. At this point you also have the option to extend your qualification to an MSc by completing a dissertation to understand how research can shape practice.
How will you help me prepare for my future career?
By the end of the course you will confident in delivering quality care to patients and be able to handle complex situations you will encounter from day to day being a nurse.
This course aims to give you leadership skills and strive for excellence. As part of our partnership with local NHS trusts, you will finish the course with a strong sense of understanding of the importance of efficiently treating individuals within the community.
