Course summary

Nursing is demanding, hands-on and rewarding – and so are our courses. Our graduates take on roles in the NHS and other healthcare organisations where they plan treatment and provide high quality care.

Key benefits

  • Put King’s on your CV – we’re No.1 in the UK for nursing and No.2 in the world (QS World University Rankings 2019)
  • Make the most of our connections with NHS trusts and specialist hospitals across London, including South London and Maudsley - the world's oldest psychiatric ward
  • Opportunities to take an elective to study in the UK or abroad during Year 2.
  • 99 per cent of our graduates find successful employment.
  • Our study courses are delivered by internationally renowned clinicians and academics with a strong focus on promoting evidence-based care and appreciation of translational research.

The primary aim of the course is to ensure that King’s nursing graduates can deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to the public at their point of registration and that they have the ability to develop and refine their proficiencies as qualified practitioners. Nurses graduating from the course will meet the academic and clinical standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018), King’s College London and Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (2016). This course offers students the opportunity to develop the proficiencies required for registration as a mental health nurse.

Employability

We are the leading Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care in London, holding an excellent reputation for producing outstanding clinicians and world leaders in specialist areas.

Graduates who qualify from our courses also gain professional registration as mental health nurse from the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Many of our qualifying nurses go on to further study or gain employment in prominent London NHS Trusts, while others choose to work elsewhere in the UK and abroad.

There are varied choices of career destinations from hospitals to community/ independent practice, research, teaching and management. Whatever the chosen pathway, our nursing graduates are well-prepared to face the challenges of a career in nursing and the complexities of pioneering healthcare.
