Course summary
As more and more health issues are linked to diet, the field of nutrition has grown in importance, causing a substantial rise in related career opportunities. The course is accredited by the Association for Nutrition, so you will be eligible to register as a Registered Associate Nutritionist when you graduate.Nutrition is a fascinating area of science and on this course you’ll discover the significance behind the relationship between diet and health. Learn about the key areas of nutrition, combining the science with the social, behavioural and lifestyle issues that are present in society today, and influence the food and drink we consume.Investigate how food can improve and contribute to good health, as well as the impact our diet can have on the wider environment, and consider reasons and solutions to malnutrition, obesity and other nutritional related concerns. You’ll understand the complexity of nutritional science, and also delve into food development, production, legislation and food safety, and the psychosocial concepts of promoting health. The psychological and sociological concepts of promoting health are blended with a sound understanding of the nutritional challenges in modern society to enable students to gain knowledge and important skills to prepare them for a wide range of career choices on completing their degree. What’s more, we’ve integrated a career-catapulting 30-week placement, which you can complete anywhere in the world, to gain realistic insight into the field of nutrition, nurture professional relationships and ultimately bolster your employability factor. We have a foundation year option for UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the scientific skills needed to prepare you for the Nutrition degree, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the foundation year, you will progress to the full degree and begin your Nutrition study. This course received 100% overall satisfaction rating from our final year students in the latest National Student Survey (NSS, 2019).
