Research overview

PhD Occupational Health – Psychology and Management is for people with an interest in occupational health and employee wellbeing.

You may be a newly graduated student who plans a career in this area. Or you may be employed in a relevant field such as occupational health, safety management, human resource management or healthcare. You may be an employer, trades union official or policy-maker.

We welcome applications for a PhD in a variety of research areas. Supervision is offered on a range of topics, driven by psychological theory and having the potential to generate improvements to the health and wellbeing of workers.

On this research programme you will study intensively in the area of your choice, under the supervision of experts in the field. Research projects are usually either placed within the relevant research group or managed as collaboration across groups.

Flexible study

If the degree is taken part-time, appropriate supervisory arrangements will be agreed, and a programme of work established with blended learning support. This may enable you to continue earning and better manage costs, while also providing the opportunity to work and research in your own country or organisation.

Those wishing to join the programme at a distance, can do so providing they have access to satisfactory Skype, telephone and email systems.
