Course summary

On this BSc Oceanography degree you'll study marine ecosystems and ocean processes whilst you explore some of the remotest places on earth. You’ll learn to use the latest technologies in molecular biology, high performance computing and robotic sampling to address the key challenges facing the marine environment.You will be taught by expert staff, many of whom are leaders in their research fields and are working on international projects covering a variety of different challenges from climate change to the exploitation of our oceans.Fieldwork, practical skills and independent research are core parts of this programme. You’ll have the opportunity to:work in the field aboard the research vessel the RV Callistause laboratory analysis to examine our diverse marine environmentdevelop computing and data analysis skills essential for researchobtain qualifications in first aid and sea survivalJoin an Ocean Science community ranked 1st in the UK and 4th globally in the academic rankings among world universities, Shanghai Ranking, Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (Oceanography), 2021.This course is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology.
