Course summary
**Course overview**- Are you aiming for a senior role in safety engineering in the oil and gas industry? Working in state-of-the-art facilities you’ll gain the knowledge and experience to achieve this.- Foundation Entry degree courses are designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly enter their chosen Honours degree programme.- You’ll gain practical experience using state-of-the-art safety engineering techniques. You’ll also gain an understanding of the necessary scientific, engineering and technological principles.- We address the development and application of emerging technologies within the often contradictory constraints of safety, economy and the law.- Benefit from our dedicated fire and safety engineering laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.**Why study with us**- Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Oil and Gas Safety Engineering (Foundation Entry) is ranked 3rd in the UK with 92% of students in graduate-level work or further study after graduating (Complete University Guide 2021)- Our course has been developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies.- The course is developed and run by a recognised Centre of Excellence for Safety Engineering.**Further information**- An optional 48-week placement with a company is assessed by portfolio and contributes to the course outcomes. You’re responsible for identifying and winning the placement, but the University supports this via links to industry and through the provision of training in application and interview skills.- Placements are a great way to consolidate your first two years of learning, gain experience, and radically enhance your employability.- Please note, we are currently looking to acquire accreditations from the Energy Institute (EI) for Engineering Council (EC) in order to fully meet the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for students.
