Course summary
**Course overview**- Grab a paddle. Fit the harness. Check your map. This course is your chance to prepare for outdoor adventure, with the skills for a career of coaching and leadership.- This unique degree course is designed to offer a route into the professional outdoor adventure industry, with an advanced understanding of the practical, theoretical and contemporary issues within adventure sport and outdoor leadership. Whatever your level of experience of coaching in this field, you’ll develop both academic understanding in the classroom and practical skills on residentials at an outdoor teaching centre.- While you’ll learn from teaching staff who are experts in their field – with the research track records to prove it – this is a student-centred course. As such, you’ll learn among other practitioners in the industry, allowing you to share ideas and develop a new community of practice.- You’ll have the flexibility to pick option units that match your interests and ambitions, from expedition planning to creative teaching. And, whatever you choose, you’ll have plenty of chance to put your skills into practice – as national and international work experience, fieldwork and expedition opportunities are encouraged and form an integral part of the programme.**Why study with us**- Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Outdoor Adventure Leadership is ranked 12th in the UK with 92% of students satisfied with learning opportunities (National Student Survey 2020)- This course is accredited by the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL), while you’ll also receive membership of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).- Our Sports Science courses are ranked 13th out of 78 institutions in the UK in the Guardian League Table 2021.
