Course summary

NO TUITION FEES: Students that meet residency criteria are eligible to apply for an enhanced support package for health related courses offered through the NHS Wales Bursary arrangements. AVERAGE EARNINGS: Paramedics can expect a starting salary in the range of £21,176 - £27,625 a year. ACCREDITATION: Graduates will be eligible to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council [HCPC] for Paramedic registration. The paramedic profession is a challenging and rewarding profession; individuals wishing to enter the professions should be good communicators with a desire to care for people of all ages and from all backgrounds in times of need. Paramedics are increasingly called upon as the first point of contact for patients with emergency or unscheduled care needs. The role of the paramedic is continually developing and paramedics are expected to manage patients with complex health care needs. This programme aims to prepare paramedic students to take forward the concept of autonomous practice and incorporate safe, appropriate and effective patient-centred care into the practice role. The degree programme is structured to include studying in university and clinical practice placements. Teaching and learning strategies include lead lectures, seminars, discussion groups, e-learning, self-directed study, role play and simulation exercises. This programme is a professional healthcare programme so start times and holiday entitlement may differ from standard degree courses.
