Course summary
Unique opportunities to learn how to teach Biology in a newly refreshed course. We place an emphasis on experiential learning, where trainees undertake a wide range of activities then get the opportunity to plan how to deliver this in the classroom. Ensuring each activity is directly transferable to secondary teaching helps trainees to develop their confidence in content delivery.
The course is enhanced by continued support from the scientific professional bodies; Royal Society of Biology, the Institute of Physics, The Royal Society of Chemistry as well as the Association of Science Education.
Key features
- Refreshed course to embed the new curriculum and GCSE subject content
- Practical and experiential based learning
- Planning for pupil safety during investigations
- Develop subject-specific digital technology skills including data logging
- Trainees have the opportunity to practice teaching Chemistry and Physics
What will you study?
Our courses are informed by research and current developments in the discipline and feedback from students, external examiners and employers. Modules do therefore change periodically in the interests of keeping the course relevant and reflecting best practice. The most up-to-date information will be available to you once you have accepted a place and registered for the course. If there are insufficient numbers of students interested in an optional module, this might not be offered, but we will advise you as soon as possible and help you choose an alternative.
