Course summary

Course Summary

Supervision is well established in helping professions such as counselling, counselling psychology or psychotherapy, and it represents a relatively new aspect of coaching. Moreover, research indicates that a growing number of coaches are engaging in supervision to enhance their continuing personal and professional development, to understand their clients and themselves better, and to explore the subtleties of the coaching relationship.

For experienced coaches, becoming a trained supervisor is the next step in terms of professional development. As a coaching psychology supervisor, you will combine your professional knowledge and experience with a range of theories and skills to support novice and trained coaches’ development.

The PgCert in Coaching Psychology Supervision will help you to understand the purpose and principles of coaching psychology supervision and to make critical judgements on the application of coaching supervision models and techniques required for professional practice.

We are in support of promoting equality, diversity and inclusion by our mode of delivery (i.e., monthly Friday evening and Saturday day block sessions), as this allows a broader range of working professionals to participate, rather than catering solely to students who are available during weekdays because they are not working. This course is accredited by EMCC with the Supervision Quality Award (under validation).

Coaching has been an area of extensive growth in the last twenty years. Following this, there has been a growth in the advocacy for coaching supervision. This course will enhance your coaching knowledge and skills whilst becoming part of your personal and professional development as a coach. However, you may aspire to work as a supervisor for coaches in one-to-one or group sessions, or to supervise coaching trainees, the course will position you on firm footing, in terms of achieving this goal. Once you are qualified, you will be able to continue receiving supervision and accruing hours of practice and experience toward the aim of becoming accredited and offering coaching supervision as one of your services.
