Course summary
Our course takes an evidence-based approach to the active female and female athlete health. You'll learn best practices for assessing and managing their health, including musculoskeletal management.Develop your knowledge of the female body. You will explore exercise before, during and after pregnancy. You will also learn about the effects of aging on both the active female and the female athlete.You'll gain the skills to assess active females and female athletes at all stages of life. You will learn how to design effective development programmes tailored to their needs. Musculoskeletal management is also a key focus of the course.Why study with usLearn from leading experts in the field of women’s sport, health and exercise.Gain the skills to provide female-focussed musculoskeletal assessment and management.You'll be able to work with active females and female athletes at all levels, from recreational sport to elite performance.Future careersOur PGCert in Exercise Medicine for Female Health takes an evidence-based approach to the health and wellbeing of female athletes. You'll gain the skills to manage the health and performance of both active females and female athletes. Our course takes a holistic approach and bridges the multi-disciplinary team that supports athletes.There is an uptake of women in sport at all levels. This provides a wealth of opportunity where expert support needed. Our PGCert will allow you to provide female-specific advice and management. You'll be able to work with women from amateur sport, as well as professional athletes.Learning and assessment:Our modules will have a blended learning approach. There will be online sessions, as well as classroom-based sessions. We will focus on problem-based learning. This will all be supported by online learning material.You will need to complete independent study and take the initiative to read about topics, so you can contribute to teaching sessions.Our team are experienced clinicians, with many years in education. Staff will deliver modules within their area of expertise. This blend of academic experience, clinical knowledge and clinical experience will give you insight into the current clinical environment.A variety of assessment methods are used to support learning throughout the programme.Pathway OpportunitiesYou will be able to consider further educational opportunities, such as undertaking a full MSc degree, PhD or professional doctorate.
