Course summary

In a world of heightened risk, organisations face increasing threats from data theft, sophisticated cyber-attacks, global terrorism and the possibility of business disruption. There is a high demand for qualified and experienced security professionals to enhance operational resilience and protect individuals, assets, information, data and organisational reputation. If you are looking to enhance your knowledge of the security industry, Risk and Security Management offers essential learning.

This specialist online programme, co-created by Salford Business School academics and our industry partners, Security Exchange, is delivered in two 30 credit modules which together lead to a postgraduate certificate. The teaching draws on Salford Business School’s academic credentials and Security Exchange’s experience as a global crisis management consultancy to examine both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the discipline.

Looking at risk to business from a broad range of security threats, this course covers cyber security, information security and crisis management in a number of sectors including oil and gas, entertainment, aviation and media. The programme is highly practical using industry specific case studies, contemporary and dynamic content and the tutors' personal experience to help you develop your knowledge, strategic understanding and practical skills.

You will:

  • Work with industry specialists to review security management and practice
  • Apply a risk-based approach to corporate security and risk management practices
  • Appreciate the complexities associated with modern day supply chains
  • Work with companies reviewing real cyber security strategies
