The PgD Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - Degree Apprenticeship offers pathways for Health Visiting, School Nursing and Occupational Health Nursing.The Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN)- Degree Apprenticeship programme is offered within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health. On successful completion, you will receive an award of the University and registration with the NMC as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse- Health Visitor (HV), School Nurse (SN) or Occupational Health Nurse (OHN). This indicates that the programme you completed was focused on a particular area of practice which will be entered onto the Specialist community public health nursing part of the NMC register.The cse has been newly developed in response to the NMC (2022) Standards for specialist community public health nursing and the growing need for practitioners to respond to the public health policy agenda. The cse requires you to develop knowledge, understanding and skills of Specialist Community Public Health Nursing and contemporary public health approaches to practice. A requirement within this context of practice is for health care professionals to develop a comprehensive range of skills develop and lead population and individual based public health services, tackle inequalities in health, prevent ill health and work in partnership with individuals and communities.The achievement of these standards will be through a combination, and balance, of approximately 50%theory and 50% experience in practice.Career OpportunitiesOn successful completion, students will receive an award of the University and registration with the NMC as aSpecialist Community Public Health Nurse- Occupational Health Nurse (OHN)Specialist Community Public Health Nurse- School Nurse (SN)Specialist Community Public Health Nurse- Health Visitor (HV)
