Course summary
This four-year integrated masters gives you the opportunity to work on a year-long industrial placement. An industrial year can massively improve your employability. It will give you valuable experience and skills that employers look for. Your final year will be spent on an industrial placement. This could be in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or health and consumer industries. You will also complete a year-long research project with the support of the university and the company you work with.The University of Nottingham is ranked 7th in the world for Pharmacy (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020). You will develop an expert understanding of pharmaceutical sciences including the discovery and design of medicines.This course brings together the sciences of biology, pharmaceutics, chemistry, and biochemistry. Topics you will study include:- using organic chemistry in drug design and discovery- using physical chemistry to understand the properties of drugs and medicines- designing and formulating medicines- understanding disease and drug action through biology and pharmacologyYou will be taught by experts in their field who use their own research to support their teaching. You'll also learn about regulations, patenting, and business skills in a national and global context. We provide as much practical learning as possible. We even have our own demo pharmacy to develop your real-world skills.
