Course summary

Our BSc Pharmacology course explores all this and more. Staff are research-active and experts in the field and include members of societies like the British Pharmacological Society, Biochemical Society, British Neuroscience Association and British Neuro-Oncology Society. This is a practical-focused degree in pharmacology, exploring the action of drugs on the human body. Youll study how the normal human body is affected by disease, learn in detail how drugs affect normal function and try to restore normal function in many pathological conditions. Youll explore where drugs come from and how they are developed, with extensive hands-on experience to discover how drugs interact with and affect molecules, cells and whole organisms. This BSc Pharmacology degree prepares you for careers in industrial settings and is ideal grounding for postgraduate study and drug research jobs in academic settings. Some graduates go on to further study (MSc, PG medicine or dentistry) or further research (MRes, PhD, working in industry).
