We work with many of the major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and have had the vision to start up several successful commercial ventures, providing valuable services to the pharmaceutical industry.

Research overview

Our research

The school came joint 1st in the UK on quality of research for Pharmacy Schools in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework and is the only School of Pharmacy to have 100% of research at 4 in the 'Impact on Society’ category.

All of our postgraduate research students are based in one of our five research divisions:

  • Advanced Materials and Healthcare Technologies
  • Biomolecular Science and Medicinal Chemistry
  • Molecular Therapeutics and Formulation Division
  • Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapies Division
  • Pharmacy Practice and Policy (social science-based research)

PhD

You will be able to identify a potential supervisor for your project by looking at the divisions and group members. You are strongly encouraged to find a supervisor before you apply.

Research facilities

The school is based in three buildings on University Park:

  • Boots Science Building
  • Centre for Biomolecular Sciences
  • Pharmacy School Building

You will be loaned a new laptop for the duration of your studies and allocated space in a shared office in one of our three buildings.
