Course summary

Social work at the University of Hull has a long tradition of making a tangible difference to the lives of others, with recent research centring on issues including: safeguarding and suicide-prevention in the internet age child protection domestic abuse and coercive control trauma and trauma-informed approaches experience of illness palliative care end-of-life care and social inequality. Our hand-selected postgraduate students share our passion and drive to make a difference. We have established strong working relationships with local social services providers, users, and carers. The PhD in Social Work allows you to research and write a maximum 100,000 word thesis on a topic in which we are able to offer supervision. Alongside your research you will complete research training modules (minimum 60 credits) from the PGR Development Programme run by the Doctoral College.
