Course summary

**Why Philosophy and Politics?**Our Philosophy and Politics degree will help you grow your intellectual initiative and confidence to make positive contributions on the most pressing issues of our age. Gaining deep insights about what it means to be human and how best we can live together, you’ll learn to apply ideas in ways which will make a difference to you and your communities. With excellent support from our expert tutors and through small group discussions with fellow students, you’ll consider key issues of value, equality, identity and power, while module options will allow you to match your study to your own interests and goals. Topics range from populism, truth and the media, to looking beyond good and evil, from ideologies, systems and institutions, to philosophy and literature. Our course provides valuable opportunities to take your learning into the wider world, through UK and international field trips, along with placements and project work in professional and lived contexts. Previous students have visited destinations in the USA, Canada, India and Spain and have experienced hands-on engagement work with environmental, business and socio-political groups. This mix of advanced knowledge and practical experience will empower you to become a sophisticated, creative and valuable thinker, with investigative, analytical research and communication skills. These highly desirable abilities will prepare you for a career in a range of roles in the third sector, journalism, politics, teaching, marketing and many other industries.**Why University of Gloucestershire?**We’ve been using our expertise to support and inspire students since 1847. Who Cares? We do. We care about our students and the planet.
