Photography is the most exciting and dynamic of subjects. It is this which has inspired us to deliver a course that will help you to become a specialist in the dominant visual language of our age. Our BA(Hons) Photography course will give you the chance to: * Work with a course staff comprising of internationally recognised practitioners and educators, who bring extensive experience in a range of approaches to image-making and publishing. * Experience our state-of-the-art imaging facilities including studios, the latest digital medium format cameras, we also have digital and analogue darkrooms and high quality print and book-making facilities. We are committed to providing a professional standard imaging environment in all aspects of production, this provides the opportunity for you to produce still and moving images to the very highest professional standards. Experience of such environments is a vital indicator that you are ready to enter your chosen area of the creative industries. * Engage with an extensive list of internationally recognised visiting specialists, * Understand the role of a photographer in today’s society, and the commercial paths available to you. You’ll also be able to explore the history and contemporary practice of photography. * Be articulate about your work and be ready to discuss and present your images in a range of situations. Finally, our photography course is approved by the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) giving you the chance to gain a respected BIPP professional qualification alongside your degree. Professional links and accreditation: This course is currently approved and accredited by the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), giving you the opportunity to gain a BIPP professional qualification alongside your degree. Visit www.bipp.com for further information. The accreditation is renewed each year. During this course you can benefit from the opportunity to gain the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) (http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/certification-programs.edu.html) accreditation in addition to your degree, at no extra cost. This is a globally recognised accreditation awarded by one of the leading software package providers to the creative industries, so could be valuable in your professional career. This accreditation is attractive to a number of employers and so it could give you a competitive edge in the job market. To be awarded the ACA accreditation, you’ll need to pass an online test. Additional costs - Materials: You’ll need to cover the costs of printing and presenting your work during the course. These costs may vary based on the materials and quality you choose and there is no limit on the amount you may wish to spend. As a guide, the total cost of this in recent years has been approximately £70 to £100 in the first year, £150 to £200 in the second year and £500 to £1000 in the final year per student. Many students opt to undertake fundraising activities to support the costs in the final year.
