Course summary

This exciting programme has been developed in conjunction with current physical education teachers, sports coaching specialists and self-employed school orientated sports coaches. The course will further develop your knowledge in coaching sport, ways of enhancing learning and performance and dealing with current issues within modern society. The course will also advance your understanding and application of classroom activities, educate you on methods of assessment and the use of technology in the classroom. The mix of practical and written assessments throughout the course will aid your employability options on completion of the course.Opportunities on the course allow you to gain experience of working closely with a school or a coaching company to help aid your coaching and teaching delivery in a developmental and supportive environment. This personal and professional development throughout the course is extremely attractive to employers, and previous students have achieved part time or full time employment following their active engagement in these opportunities. The course also offers places for a number of students to undertake a three week work placement abroad at a variety of schools in Orebro, Sweden, working in both primary and secondary education or in Verumaki, Finland, where students will assist or lead sporting activities at summer camps for local children. These three week work placements are fully funded through Erasmus funding and previous students have been extremely positive about the experience gained from these opportunities.
