Course summary

The Centre for Particle Theory is a combined research group in the Mathematics and Physics Departments. This is the largest such group in the country, with more than 80 members and active research interests in all branches of the subject. In addition to the 26 permanent members of academic staff, there are about 12 postdoctoral research associates and 50 postgraduate students. Students are taken by both departments to read for Ph.D. which is a research degree or the taught M.Sc degree (which is administered by the Mathematical Sciences Department). The two departments are situated about 200 metres apart in modern buildings with excellent facilities. Each student is assigned to a member of staff who supervises his/her research on a personal basis.
