Course summary
Explore the future of science with our Physics with Artificial Intelligence degree at Keele University. Build strong foundations in physics and computing, apply AI to real-world data, and tackle global challenges from green energy to healthcare. You will gain hands-on experience, advanced skills, and industry-ready expertise, preparing you for cutting-edge careers or postgraduate study in a rapidly evolving field.
Why choose this course?- Physics ranked Top 10 in England (NSS 2025, broad-based universities)- Accredited by the Institute of Physics (IoP)- Drive innovation and solve real-world problems using machine learning and big data- Gain hands-on experience through labs, projects and placements- Explore frontier topics guided by our world-leading researchersOur accredited Physics with Artificial Intelligence degree combines a subject driven by curiosity about how the universe works, with modern computing and AI techniques to solve real-world problems. Physics underpins innovation across industries, from green energy to healthcare and advanced materials. By integrating artificial intelligence, you will learn to process, analyse and visualise complex datasets, unlocking new insights and driving discovery in modern science. In your first two years, you will build a strong foundation in core physics concepts alongside programming, computational methods and problem-solving skills. As the course progresses, you will explore data science, machine learning and AI techniques, applying them to increasingly complex physical problems. Your final year offers opportunities to undertake an independent physics research project, industry placement and exploration of cutting-edge research topics, such as black holes or fluid mechanics. Your research project provides an excellent opportunity for you to pursue a self-directed, independent investigation of an experimental, computational or theoretical nature. Designed to provide you with the specialist skills you will need as a physicist, our Physics with Artificial Intelligence programme has core practical, academic and professional employability modules embedded throughout the curriculum. From hands-on practice in conducting physics experiments, learning computer programming and machine-learning techniques, to dedicated career-focused sessions and innovative assessments, we will provide you with a strong foundation of key skills for your future career. We have compared the positivity ratings of all participating UK institutions using the NSS 2025 sector data to determine Keele's position relative to other broad-based universities (i.e. excluding specialist institutions and further education colleges).
About KeeleKeele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university. We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level. Our beautiful 600-acre campus is one of the biggest in Britain – but all the most important services and facilities are on your doorstep, with accommodation, teaching spaces, facilities including a medical centre, sports centre and pharmacy, and a range of shops, eateries and entertainment venues – including the Students’ Union – clustered around the centre.
