**Physics reaches from the quark out to the largest of galaxies, while Astrophysics emphasises the underlying physical concepts of the stars and galaxies, which make up the Universe. At Kent you will you will learn from academics making the discoveries that shape our world and play a part in this research yourself. Upon graduation you will have acquired the practical experience and scientific knowledge as well as develop a wider range of skills that open the door to careers in a range of fields including aeronautics, finance and manufacturing.**Choose Physics with Astrophysics at Kent because:* our new curriculum is based on research and the demands of industry, ensuring your course is innovative and up-to-date.* you will benefit from our on campus Beacon observatory, as well a dedicated observatory for our student societies* we have a strong focus on your future career and how to get you there as well as gaining valuable transferable skills.* you receive extensive practical training in our laboratories and understand the real world applications of the science you learn * our flexible approach means you can tailor your degree once you’re here to suit your interests and career path * your lecturers are active researchers and innovative teachers, so you are taught the most up-to-date science in a stimulating and supportive environment This degree programme introduces you to a range of introductory modules such as Mechanics and relativity and thermodynamics as well as computing skills and mathematics, before progressing to more specialist topics including quantum and atomic physics and a new laboratory module based on data analysis. You’ll also study specialist modules such as spacecraft design, observational astronomy and The Physics of Stars, Galaxies and Cosmology. In your final year including optics, medical physics and nuclear physics.
