About the course

At Sussex, our experts are working at the forefront of physics. They are developing next generation quantum technology devices and working on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. You’ll study modules based on the latest research, from quantum mechanics to particle physics.You’ll have access to state-of-the-art equipment, including a rooftop optical, radio, and muon telescope. You’ll have opportunities to work alongside our world-leading faculty on ground-breaking discoveries, through your final year project and various research placement opportunities. Your integrated Masters year means you develop advanced physics skills.You’ll be part of a close community – our lively Physics Society arranges regular social events. Our building is a real hub of activity. You’ll have all your practical sessions in our modern teaching laboratories. Outside the classroom, you can study or catch up with your friends in our popular student spaces.

A-levels must include Mathematics at grade B. Physics A-level is desirable, but we will consider applicants on a case-by-case basis without it. You should have a broad range of GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C), including good grades in relevant subjects.
