Our Foundation Year provides an excellent alternative route to Keele, providing a unique opportunity to better prepare for your chosen degree, and with guaranteed entry onto your undergraduate course once you successfully complete your Foundation Year. This extra year of study can improve your academic skills, expand your subject knowledge, give you a better understanding of higher education and, perhaps most importantly of all, build your confidence. On the Keele Foundation Year, you'll study on campus, joining our undergraduate community from the outset, with access to all the facilities and support that you'd get as an undergraduate student at Keele.


International Students

For International Students, Foundation Years are delivered through our dedicated on-campus provider, Keele University International College. Applications for International Foundation Years are also handled by KUIC; please do not apply via UCAS as the University will not be able to process your application and you may still be charged the UCAS application fee. -13th in England for Physics (Guardian University Guide, 2022)- This programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics (Guardian University Guide, 2022)- Dedicated first year modules will equip you with the fundamental mathematical, programming and practical skills required for effective academic study- Access to Keele's state-of-the-art Central Science Laboratories (CSL) - Gain extended exposure to computational concepts, scientific communication skills and numerical methods that are highly valuable in the workplace Physics helps us to identify the connections between seemingly different phenomena. It provides the quantitative and analytic skills needed for analysing data and solving problems and makes an enormous contribution to a range of industries such as power, nuclear, electronics, IT, and data-mining.The subject knowledge in our Physics BSc is underpinned by a core physics curriculum as set out by the Institute of Physics. Module topics include the fundamentals of classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, thermodynamics, solid state, atomic and nuclear physics, together with the mathematics that is used to describe them. You will also explore broader areas of physics and mathematics, computational and statistical techniques, and the applications of these in addressing physical problems.
