Course summary

The research covers a broad spectrum from Astronomy and Engineering related science, to Complex Systems and Mathematical Modelling, which can be applied to medical and biological sciences, as well as physical sciences.

Our Research

Gravitation and Cosmology
We research quantum gravity, the theory of gravity beyond Einstein, gravitational decoherence of quantum mechanical systems.

Infectious Diseases
We research the causes of human gastrointestinal disease via environmental, food and bone pathways. We use quantitative microbiological risk assessments, temporal and spatial analysis tools, rapid methods for concentration, separation and detection of microbial pathogens.

Systems Biology
We research the application of mathematical and physical reasoning and modelling techniques to understand cellular level biological processes. We research mathematical modelling of DNA replication and repair, RNA, homeostasis and stress responses in microorganisms, circadian rhythms, metabolic networks, symbiont-host relationships, synthetic genetic networks and neuroscience.

Solid State and Device Physics
We research modelling of semiconductor devices, experimental conductors and magnetic materials.

Atomic Structures of Solids and Solid-State Properties
We research biomaterials and biomechanics, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography, ophthalmology and THz imaging.

Institute of Complex Systems and Mathematical Biology
We research theory of the complex dynamical systems with a central role in integrating mathematical developments with biological experiments.
