Course summary
If you have an interest in the human body and want to learn more about how the body functions to maintain a stable environment then our Physiology and Pharmacology programme is the ideal course for you. This degree is the perfect route if you want a career in the pharmaceutical industry, as you’ll study the human body in both normal and altered states, including the development of disease processes. You’ll have the flexibility to choose between two final degree routes dependent on your chosen career. This degree programme offers you the opportunity to study the two related disciplines of physiology and pharmacology. In the physiological aspects of the course, you will gain a firm understanding of the range of processes happening in the various tissues and organs of the human body, how these are altered in response to external and internal stimuli, and how these go wrong in disease states. The pharmacology aspects will focus on how drugs act on the human body and how they can be used as medications to restore normal physiology. You’ll be provided with a comprehensive introduction to basic bioscience and develop essential laboratory and study skills.
